Letter 2 to MEPs

                                          Dear Member of European Parliament,

How can anyone vote in favour of a regulation that releases untested, genetically modified plants and foods onto farmland, into the environment and onto our plates?

Because NGT plants are GMOs, as the European Commission itself states on its website.

I am writing because I am deeply concerned that the majority of MEPs voted in favour of the draft regulation on NGT plants (plants obtained using new genomic techniques) at the first reading in the European Parliament. The second reading is approaching.

But the worst thing for me is that many MEPs, arguing that current legislation is not adapted to technical progress in genetic engineering (biotechnology),  fail to notice – or do not wish to acknowledge – that this new regulation, adapted to technical progress in genetic engineering (biotechnology), exempts the vast majority of NGT plants from the obligation to meet the conditions laid down in the GMO legislation to safeguard our health and that of animals, and the wider natural environment.

How can one sacrifice the health and safety of humans, animals and the environment through the adoption of a potentially dangerous, untested experiment, under the label ‘technical progress’ in genetic engineering/biotechnology?

Then prioritizing this ‘progress’ over our health – on the basis of empty declarations that it is safe and has wonderful properties, and that the techniques are precise?

That these arguments are myths or, at best, mere expectations, is evident from current scientific knowledge.

This has been demonstrated in a recently published study entitled “Facts, myths and the truth about NGTs (new GMOs)” (by Dr Jacek J. Nowak, professor emeritus at SWBJ), based on scientific publications and the opinions of expert scientists and institutions.

The constantly updated study “Facts, myths” can be downloaded or read at: https://doprawdy.info/2026/02/facts-myths-and-truth-about-ngts-new-gmos/ .

Would you give your loved ones, especially your children, genetically modified food that has not been properly tested beforehand?

You are our representatives.

I therefore ask you to read this report before voting on the draft regulation on NGT plants and to vote against this draft regulation, in line with the wishes of the majority of voters (opinion polls indicate that the vast majority do not want GMOs/NGTs).

Yours sincerely
