Letter to MEPs
Dear Member of the European Parliament,
The European Parliament will soon hold its second reading of the draft regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on plants obtained using certain new genomic techniques and food and feed derived from these plants, amending Regulation (EU) 2017/625 (so-called NGT Plant Regulations). This regulation aims to release into the environment (not only agricultural) and into food and feed new GMOs, which are, by their very nature, NGT plants. The release of the vast majority of them is to be achieved without taking into account the requirements of GMO law established for the safety of people, animals and the environment.
From the authors of the draft regulation on NGT plants and from the government and other supporters of this regulation we only hear and read declarations about the safety and unusual properties of NGT plants.
ATTENTION! In the context of the above declarations, Dr. Jacek J. Nowak, professor emeritus of SWBJ, specializing in, among others, food security and decision-making methodology, based on scientific publications and the opinions of competent scientists and institutions, collected important scientific and practical facts demonstrating how many declarations of supporters of the regulation on NGT plants, starting with declarations of the safety and precision of NGT and the extraordinary properties of NGT plants, are not facts but myths or only expectations.
The work „Facts, Myths and Truth about NGT (new GMOs)” aims, at least in part, to supplement the above-mentioned one-sided message, i.e. to declare only the advantages of NGT and their products, here about NGT plants, and thus to help in making the right decisions.
So please read this study entitled „FACTS, MYTHS and TRUTH about NGT (new GMOs)” before voting on the NGT Plants Regulation, which can be downloaded or read at the link: https://doprawdy.info/2026/02/facts-myths-and-truth-about-ngts-new-gmos/.
In light of the scientific knowledge cited, it is not only astonishing but also sad why the drafters of the regulation on NGT plants included an artificial criterion of equivalence of NGT plants with conventional ones (a criterion that has no scientific basis) and formulated provisions excluding NGT plants category 1 from the GMO law, i.e. from the requirements:
– risk analyses for human and animal health and the environment,
– identifying and monitoring,
– food labeling…
Can you make the right decisions based solely or primarily on myths or expectations rather than facts?
And the consequences of the decision on The NGT Plant Regulations will affect all of us and our loved ones…
Yours sincerely,
